What is the PETA foundation? Torn in the decision making process of becoming a vegetarian, I figured I may be inspired by learning about the mistreatment of animals. I was brutally enlightened.
To further my understanding of their liberal groundwork, I simply visited peta.org. Growing increasingly nauseous and disturbed by the moment, I searchedthrough pictures, videos, captions, and slide shows of disfigured animals.
My experience: horrifying, gruesome, upsetting, and unsettling.
I found myself wincing at the sight of each clobbered seal, and each frightened, mangy fox. Who are these (inhuman) people who can kill so violently/willingly/naturally?
Who is to blame? Are the individuals and celebrities who wear their furs responsible? How can I help this desperate cause?
The site, loaded with graphic content and information, features a variety of celebrity-endorsed campaigns promoting the ethical treatment of animals.
These individuals include Carmen Electra (petitioning against seal slaughtering in Canada), Pink (petitioning against horse-drawn carriages in NYC), and Martha Stewart.
DID YOU KNOW: fur farming is the only sector of animal agriculture not regulated by the federal government. WHY?!?!?!
